Our History

Blinds are Beautiful has been a staple in Winnipeg since 1980. 

In the beginning, the company was known as New View Blinds. It competed on price, offering affordable window treatments by selling directly from the manufacturer to the public. 

A year after opening, an employee, Glenn Karr, bought the business. Three years later the name was changed to Blinds are Beautiful. 

As a local owner, Glenn built the business by working with clients and offering them the quality products, design services and customer service they desired.

Part of the success of Blinds are Beautiful has been in giving back to the community.  Since 1980, Blinds are Beautiful has supported over 100 charities, including: 

• Canadian Museum for Human Rights

• Siloam Mission

• Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra

• Winnipeg Football Club

During his 36 years of ownership, Glenn expanded the reputation and client base of Blinds are Beautiful, turning it into a Winnipeg institution. 

In the spring of 2017 Blinds are Beautiful was purchased by a new set of owners but remains a locally owned company.  New and past clients can look forward to the continuing great service and quality selection of custom drapery and blinds to meet their window covering needs.
